Having provided senior care for over 30 years, The Oaks maintains a rich history in Old Winter Park. Our Alabama Oaks location originally accommodated an overflow of visitors to the famous Alabama Hotel, our neighbor down the block. As guests aged over the years, many decided not to return North, and, eventually, the property evolved into an elder care facility.

Throughout the years, our smaller, intimate environment has promoted a family-like atmosphere where staff and residents create a close bond. Our caring assisted living personnel have decades of senior care experience – from our Administrator who holds a Registered Nurse degree to our devoted Caregivers, many who’ve worked with us for over a decade.

Jennifer Brown
Administrator and Registered Nurse

There is never a dull moment in the life of Jennifer Brown. As a busy mother of three and the Administrator of The Oaks, she lives a fulfilling and exciting life.

Caring for people has always been a passion of Jennifer and the reason why she pursued a career as a Registered Nurse. Practicing as an RN in the medical field for over 10 years, Jennifer decided to make the change to assisted-living, and more specifically The Oaks, when she visited the facility as a home-health nurse for one of our residents.

“I fell in love with this facility and wanted to work here. I really liked the idea of working in one place and treating the same people over a long period of time. It seemed more gratifying to me, especially here at The Oaks where the residents become more like an extended family.”

Shannon Ward
Marketing And Activities Director

Shannon brings a youthful exuberance as our Marketing and Activities Director. Our residents love her kind and uplifting personality and always look forward to the new activities and events she has in store. Whether it’s art class, bingo, or a trip to see a current movie; Shannon fills our residents’ days with happy moments.

A local Winter Park resident, Shannon lives right near the facility with her husband and adorable daughter Elsie.

Jennifer, Shannon and the rest of our caregiving staff — including Natlyn, Tiffany, Angelica, Sunday, Punam, Nadia and, Lou — are a large part of what makes Alabama Oaks so special.

Ervin Hechavarria
Property and Business Management

Ervin (or “Luis” as many call him) keeps things organized and smoothly operating behind the scenes at The Oaks. He helps streamline business operations with everything from licensing to insurance and maintains an ALF Administrator’s degree. He’s also constantly monitoring and improving our three properties, dealing with any maintenance issues that arise.

A lifelong Orlando resident, Ervin loves working in an assisted living environment and socializing with our residents.

Jennifer, Shannon, Ervin and the rest of our caregiving staff — including Nathlyn, Tiffany, Angelica, Nadia, Daniella, Lu, Miriam, Veronica, Alma, Philine, Nadege, and Sarah — are a large part of what makes The Oaks so special.
